A source close to the Sadrist movement said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi waved to one of the members of the House of Representatives influential in the Sadr movement, his desire to coalition his electoral list with the Liberal bloc, supported by the leader of the current Moqtada al-Sadr.
The source told the «Journal News» that “the MP informed the political body of the Sadrist movement in the desire of Abadi, but the latter has not yet decided on whether to participate in the upcoming elections or not.”
“Sadr has set conditions for supporting any electoral list in the next stage, first to be a cross-sectarian and a university for all the spectrums of the Iraqi people,” he said.
“Sadr has set a condition for candidates of the Liberal bloc that he has exercised the functions of a member of the House of Representatives during two sessions will not be re-nominated without exception.”
The source, through his statements to the «Journal News» that “Abadi through one of the members of the House of Representatives influential in the Sadrist movement expressed his desire to get an alliance between his list and the Liberal bloc, but the political body did not resolve the matter approving or not.
“The Liberal bloc will call on those who see their chances under the St. Lego Amendment (7-1) as small lists and likely not to get seats in the next parliament to join them,” he said.
