Arab media reported that the US Embassy in Baghdad has wired to the Kurdistan region of Iraq a secret letter requesting the postponement of the referendum on the separation, to be held on the twenty-fifth of next September, noting that Erbil did not mind postponement.
“The US Embassy in Baghdad has issued a secret letter to Erbil requesting the postponement of the referendum on independence,” the sources said, quoting sources.
He added that “Erbil did not mind postponing the referendum and is waiting for an official American request in the same content as the secret message.”
The leader of the Islamic Group of Kurdistan, Xuan Rabar expected, on Saturday, to postpone the referendum of Kurdistan, while stressing the need to precede the referendum process unification of the Kurdish position on “crucial issues.”
