The Iraqi Major General Abdul Ghani al-Asadi, the commander of the Counter Terrorism Service (CTS), confirmed on Tuesday that the fighting in the Old City of Mosul has become increasingly difficult as the roads are so narrow and close to the homes of civilians.
He added that the causalities among CTS troops will not prevent them from advancing deeper into the city.
Asadi’s statements came after the ISIS terrorists had launched more suicide attacks to block progress of the Iraqi forces in the Old City of Mosul, ISIS’s last stronghold.
This comes as the Iraqi forces, aided by the US-led coalition, launched a major offensive to drive ISIS terrorists out of Mosul.
Iraqi forces have been battling the terror group of ISIS in the right bank of the city since February 19th with the aid of the US-led coalition after freeing the eastern bank of the war-shattered city.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Iraqi forces declared Mosul has become totally free of ISIS terrorists.
