Meanwhile, local sources familiar with the “New Arab”, said that dozens of civilians were killed during the battles of the past hours, which preceded the liberation of the mosque Nuri and Manara Hdba.

According to sources inside Mosul, at least 80 civilians were killed in the fighting, most of them children and women, more than half of whom were killed by aerial bombardments.

In his turn, the commander of operations “coming to Nineveh” that his forces recovered, on Thursday morning, the site of the Mosque of Nuri and the lighthouse of humpback in the area of ​​Serj Banna from the grip of the “Daash” in the right coast of the city of Mosul.

Militants blew up the mosque and its historic minaret last week, sparking widespread international condemnation.

A member of the Council of Mosul (local government), Ahmed al-Hamdani, suggested that the removal of Nuri and humpback from the grip of “Dahesh” has a very negative impact on the morale of the organization.

He explained in connection with the “new Arab”, that “the symbol of the mosque for the fighters of the organization is considered a symbolic symbol of the leader of the same organization, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, so I think that the achievement will not be at the expense of Iraq or Mosul, but also Syria, other countries”.
