US Secretary of State confirms to Barzani his country’s continued support of the Kurdistan Region

Ruudau – Erbil

The US Secretary of State, Rex Tilerson, on Wednesday, that US support continues to the Peshmerga forces, explaining that “his country’s relations continue with the Kurdistan Region.”

Statements Tillerson came during a telephone conversation with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region.

The statement added that “US Secretary of State, Rex Tilerson thanked the Peshmerga forces for their victories in the war against terrorists.”

According to the statement, “Tilerson praised the cooperation between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in the war against terrorists.”

The statement also pointed out that “the US Secretary of State promised Barzani that his country’s relations continue with Kurdistan and support the Peshmerga forces.”

For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Region during the telephone call with Tillerson thanks to America for its supportive position of the Kurdistan Region, and congratulated Barzani Tilerson received his position as Foreign Minister, wishing him success in his work.
