Lieutenant-General Mazhar al-Ezzawi, Tigris operations commander, announced on Wednesday launching a large-scale military operation of main three axes in northern Diyala Governorate, a statement has revealed.
Al-Ezzawi said in a press statement that security forces of the Iraqi army, police and tribes, backed by the Iraqi air force, launched Wednesday morning wide-range military operations.
He added that these operations were launched in Injana and Serha districts, located within Tilal Himreen in northern Diyala Governorate, to track ISIS terror cells.
The operations depend on intelligence in tracking targets, Tigris operations commander noted.
He also stated that these operations come as part of the command’s strategy to destroy the terrorist group’s pockets and havens in Diyala.
Iraqi security forces started a new offensive last February 19, through which a lot of areas and neighborhoods have been freed from the clutches of ISIS terrorists.
