US Ambassador to the United States Donald Trillman has ruled out US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a US-Sunni alliance at the next summit in Riyadh
“The basis of US-Emirati relations is not limited to the Sunni component, but its relationship with its allies in the Middle East as a whole,” Douglas told a news conference at the US embassy on Wednesday.
“Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia was his desire to honor the three religions and not to form a Sunni-American alliance,” he said. “Trump will visit Saudi Arabia and then Israel and Vietnam.”
“The battle of Mosul is very difficult and the security forces are making great sacrifices,” he said. “Washington is continuing and will continue to support the security forces until the destruction of Saddam Hussein.”
