The office of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi denied on Thursday statements by Osama al-Nujaifi, in which he said Abadi pledged to acquit the former finance minister Rafie al-Issawi, before forming the government.
“We deny Vice President Osama al-Nujaifi’s statement that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has pledged to intervene in legal cases against any politician,” spokesman Saad al-Hadithi said in a statement received by al-Ghad Press.
“The issues raised against politicians and former officials are at the core of the jurisdiction of the judiciary,” he said.
The Vice President of the Republic Osama Nujaifi has revealed, on Wednesday, the Prime Minister Haider Abadi promises before forming the government to “address” the case of the former Minister of Finance required for the judiciary Rafie al-Issawi, noting that Abadi described Issawi as “oppressed”, while expressing confidence that The right is restored to him.
