Kurdistan Regional Government approves strategy to confront corruption

Khandan – The Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan region during its regular meeting on Tuesday, the strategy to confront corruption.

The Kurdistan Regional Government said in a statement on its official website that the head of the Integrity Commission in the Kurdistan region, presented during the meeting a report on the national strategy to confront corruption in the Kurdistan region, which was prepared by a ministerial committee.

This strategy is the first of its kind and is being prepared to confront corruption as a joint national project at the level of the Kurdistan Parliament, the Judicial and Public Prosecutions Council, the Integrity Commission, the Financial Control Bureau and the Council of Ministers in consultation with civil society organizations and under the supervision of the Westminster British Democracy Organization Corruption in the world, according to the statement.

Anti-corruption mechanisms have been developed at four main levels, consisting of preventing and facing corruption, the rule of law, awareness and continuous training, and coordination and cooperation between the competent authorities on the one hand and civil society on the other.

This strategy will continue for five years and will include a number of annexes, an implementation plan and a review, as well as an evaluation.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region agreed during the meeting today on the strategy and stressed its commitment to its implementation and success and thanked the Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, the Chairman of the Integrity Commission and his team and that the preparation of this strategy after the start of the Integrity Commission work in the Kurdistan region, The strategy is institutionalized in which all the technical institutions in the Kurdistan region participate.

The head of the provincial government described the stages of implementing and evaluating the developments of this strategy in the mission, pointing out that this strategy has united all previous projects on standing against corruption.
